When new versions of the OS arrive, it might take some time for me to update and therefore to check if the plugin still works on the new version. And so, you get a message saying that QuoteFix (along with other plugins you have installed) isn't compatible anymore.

Most of the time, these versions change when Apple releases Mac OS X updates. The idea is that plugins untested for a specific version won't be loaded, hence providing extra security and stability. Each plugin needs to explicitly declare with which versions of Mail.app and amework it is compatible. With the introduction of Snow Leopard, Apple added an extra security/stability measure for Mail.app plugins.

  • Why does my own signature appear at the top of each reply?Įvery time Mac OS X updates, I get a message that QuoteFix is disabled.
  • Why doesn't QuoteFix always remove the signature of the sender?.
  • I have installed QuoteFix, but it doesn't seem to be working?.
  • Every time Mac OS X updates, I get a message that QuoteFix is disabled.
  • But that's a personal preference, like most things. I have to use Outlook for a volunteer organization I work with and I hate how it operates. On your last comment about Apple needing to "get with" how other mail products work, I'm dead opposed to that. What do you perceive as "not friendly?" Maybe it's something in your setup.

" I use Mail with Outlook from Windows all the time and it works perfectly fine. I don't know what you mean by "Mail is not friendly with Outlook on Windows. In fact, it's kind of nice to know that I have the RIGHT image attached sometimes! I've caught myself attaching the wrong file a couple of times. I used to fret over the large images, don't sweat it any more. How it is received depends on the receiver's settings. Hope that gives you a clue why it's there.Īs for attaching pictures, what you see as the SENDER is not necessarily what the RECEIVER sees. Having the date there helps me find the original faster. I like the date in the header before the answer because I don't always get responses or remember the sequence in a long email thread. Geez, I can see the Sender's name on the email in the Inbox and on the header. I'm still waiting for someone to give me a good reason for the "On October 10, so and so wrote".

It's sad because my guess is that these are somewhat simple fixes for Apple but their extreme stubbornness won't allow them to give in and "get with" the ROTW.

I had some 3rd party plug-ins, QuoteFix and Clive Galini's Anti-Inline but they don't seem to work with Mail in Sierra. Mail is not friendly with Outlook on Windows and 98% of my business customers use Outlook on Windows. I know, I know, I can right click on "View as icon" but that is an extra step. It places them, very large, right in the body, not as a "paperclip" or icon attachment. "on October 10, so and so wrote" ? Also, Mail still is not conducive to attaching pictures to emails. All emails have a date and time up in the header. Just another item with Mail that I don't care for.
